Karthik Subramanian

Karthik Subramanian is an analyst at Lux Research, leading Lux’s coverage of innovative low-carbon power generation technologies. He is based in Lux’s Amsterdam office. Karthik advises top innovation leaders across the utilities and oil and gas sectors, helping them strategically optimize and integrate low-carbon energy solutions into their existing portfolios. His expertise spans both immediate and long-term strategies, with a focus on accelerating the energy transition through a holistic, systemwide perspective. Karthik also brings his insights to a broader audience as the co-host of Lux Research’s Innovation Matters podcast, where he unpacks the latest trends in sustainable innovation and the policy shifts shaping the future of various sectors.

Before joining Lux, Karthik contributed to solar research at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), where he developed sophisticated software to precisely calculate solar irradiance in urban areas. He holds an M.Sc. in sustainable energy technologies from TU Delft, specializing in solar, wind power, and energy storage.

Beyond his professional achievements, Karthik is a polyglot fluent in seven languages, an avid sports enthusiast, and a passionate squash player and youth trainer.
