The Future of Carbon: Building Resilience in a Defossilized World 

ASEAN benefits from a resource-rich region that has stood up domestic production of energy resources and chemical feedstocks. As the region continues to experience rapid economic growth, it is slowly losing its self-reliance as it depends on imported fossil fuels to meet growing demand. With disruptions in supply chains and a fragmenting global economy, there are risks of a dwindling supply of fossil-based raw materials. Fortunately, ASEAN sits on a wealth of carbon raw materials necessary to make chemicals, plastics, physical goods, and fuels. This shift is driving strategies in renewal raw materials inputs like recycled plastics, biomass, and captured CO2 to transform industry inputs.
