Was zu erwarten ist
Single-cell protein is gaining momentum as food and feed companies look for scalable protein sources with lower land and resource requirements. However, commercialization prospects vary widely across submerged fermentation, solid-state fermentation, and C1-based routes using methane, methanol, or CO₂, with each pathway facing different trade-offs in feedstock cost, productivity, downstream processing, nutrition, and scale-up.
In this Ideathon, Lux Research will showcase emerging startups representing the breadth of the SCP technology landscape. The session will compare how different fermentation routes address cost, scalability, feedstock flexibility, and product functionality, while examining which technologies are best positioned for food and feed applications. The panel discussion will focus on the technical and commercial bottlenecks that will determine which SCP platforms can move from promising pilots to competitive industrial production.
