Nardev Ramanathan, Ph.D., is an associate research director at Lux Research, where he spearheads the consumer health sciences coverage within the CPG team. He is based in Singapore. With a keen focus on cutting-edge consumer health technologies, ranging from digital biomarkers and wearable health devices to consumer sensory evaluation and genomics, Nardev guides innovation leaders across CPG, chemicals, materials, and adjacent industries through the complex landscape of emerging consumer health trends. Nardev has been a speaker at many key industry events internationally, notably at the APAC Agrifood Innovation Summit and Hello Tomorrow Singapore, and chaired the Lux Forum in Tokyo in 2023.
Before joining Lux, Nardev was assistant head of the Industrial Development Group at Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR), where he led precision medicine and digital health initiatives. His leadership was instrumental in creating an industry consortium that bolstered Singapore’s biotech ecosystem, resulting in successful partnerships and tangible advances in precision medicine.
Nardev holds a Ph.D. in clinical biochemistry from the University of Cambridge, funded by an A*STAR Overseas Ph.D. scholarship. His groundbreaking doctoral research uncovered a novel genetic mutation responsible for a rare inherited disease, lipodystrophy, in a patient from the Middle East, advancing the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of this disease. His peer-reviewed publications in metabolic health continue to be influential and highly cited.
Fluent in English, Malay, and Tamil, Nardev brings a global perspective to his work. In his free time, he enjoys sharpening his strategic thinking through tennis and chess.
