What to Expect

Bringing new biomedical materials to market is taking longer than ever, even as medical device and diagnostics companies face mounting pressure to launch faster. For established materials suppliers, this is no longer a story confined to the device OEMs they already serve — bioresorbable polymers, bioresorbable metals, bioceramics, and biomimetic and smart polymers are opening adjacent growth paths well beyond the traditional base. Tighter regulatory expectations in Europe and the US are stretching qualification timelines, and strong product concepts increasingly stall at materials readiness rather than at design.
