Juan Camilo Cortés is a senior research associate at Lux Research, based in the Amsterdam office. He leads Lux’s coverage of electric vehicle (EV) charging and heat-decarbonization technologies and supports additional topics, including renewable and distributed energy resources integration into the power grid and home and building energy management systems, where he has authored insightful research on an area of booming commercial and policy activity. In this role, he has interviewed multiple startup CEOs developing software and hardware technologies and has advised innovation leaders in the oil and gas, utilities, and industrial sectors, providing expert guidance in identifying key players and innovations in smart and bidirectional EV charging hardware and software, distributed energy resources management systems, energy trading platforms, thermal energy storage systems, and industrial heat pumps.
Before joining Lux, Camilo worked at TNO-Solliance (the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research) as a graduate intern, where he investigated the impact of heavy alkali elements in thin-film photovoltaics for tandem applications. Camilo holds a B.Sc. in mechanical engineering and an M.Sc. in sustainable energy technology from Delft University of Technology.
In his free time, Camilo enjoys watching Formula 1 racing, tennis, and football. He speaks Spanish and English.
