Michael Holman, Ph.D., is Senior Vice President for Research Programming at Lux Research, where he’s at the helm of the innovation strategy and research methodologies that drive our clients’ success. With 20 years of experience in exploring emerging technologies, he has a strong track record of helping executives find opportunities and transform businesses in sectors like chemicals, manufacturing, energy, and consumer products. His approach to innovation is not just about analyzing technologies or cost — it’s also about discovering the optimal business models, applications, and strategies that make those technologies impactful.
Mike joined Lux shortly after the company was founded and has shaped its growth through leadership roles in research, consulting, client service, product strategy, and events. He earned his Ph.D. in chemistry from Columbia University, where he was part of the Nanoscale Science and Engineering Center. He also holds a B.A. in chemistry and philosophy from Rice University.
Mike lives in New York City with his family — when he’s not at work or traveling the world to meet with clients and innovators, he’s busy running, hiking, reading, playing board games, and doing volunteer work to address food insecurity in his neighborhood.
