Vanessa Ferrero is a consultant at Lux Research, where she helps industry leaders navigate the complexities of the energy transition and develop forward-thinking innovation strategies. She is driven by a deep conviction that the energy sector will lead the way in solving the climate crisis, from electricity to transportation to ultimately reducing economywide emissions. She is based in Alexandria, Virginia.
Before joining Lux, Vanessa worked as a consultant at Guidehouse, where she supported the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations. In this capacity, she was instrumental in engaging stakeholders for a diverse portfolio of projects, including carbon capture, direct air capture, long-duration energy storage, and hydrogen. Previously, Vanessa was the manager for international programs at Edison Electric Institute, where she convened strategic dialogues and regional roundtables on critical energy issues, such as transmission planning, electric vehicles, and natural-disaster preparedness. She has worked with nearly 50 electric utilities, with operations spanning every continent.
Vanessa earned an M.E.M. in energy and the environment from Duke University, with a certificate in international development policy. She also holds a BSE in chemical engineering and a B.A. in French from Arizona State University.
Outside of work, Vanessa enjoys reading new books, perfecting her baking skills, and spending quality time with her husband and two cats. She’s always planning her next travel adventure, driven by a desire to explore new cultures and try new cuisines.
