Juan Camilo Cortés is an analyst at Lux Research based in Lux’s Amsterdam office, where he covers a broad range of emerging energy and industrial technologies. His work spans EV charging, heat decarbonization, distributed energy resources, and energy management systems across residential, commercial, and industrial settings. He contributes research at the intersection of technology, markets, and policy, with a focus on how electrification, digitalization, and system integration are reshaping energy infrastructure. In his role, he engages with startups, technology providers, and industry stakeholders and advises decision-makers across utilities, oil and gas, and industrial sectors on innovation trends, competitive landscapes, and strategic opportunities.
Prior to joining Lux, Camilo worked at TNO-Solliance (the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research) as a graduate intern, where he studied material effects in thin-film photovoltaics for tandem solar applications. He holds a B.Sc. in mechanical engineering and an M.Sc. in sustainable energy technology from Delft University of Technology.
In his free time, Camilo enjoys watching Formula 1 racing, tennis, and football. He speaks Spanish and English.
