Matthew Wagner, Ph.D.

Matt Wagner is a Senior analyst at Lux, and leads Lux’s coverage of Innovating Innovation. In this role he focuses on innovation, best practices, and digital tools in corporate tech innovation management. Matt also contributes to the Material’s team’s coverage of tech innovation at large corporations and 3D printing.

Prior to joining Lux, Matt worked at Pall Corporation. There, Matt led the firm’s global application technology activities in gas filtration, gas purification, and trace moisture analysis for the semiconductor manufacturing market. Previous to Pall, Matt worked in multiple roles in R&D at Praxair, Inc. These roles included leading Praxair’s Breakthrough Innovation initiative, developing and implementing corporation-wide innovation work processes and tools, developing and commercializing technologies for the use, production, packaging, and analysis of specialty gases and chemicals used in semiconductor manufacturing, and leading a new initiative to develop and commercialize applications of oxygen for customers’ chemical manufacturing processes involving vapor phase oxidation.

He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. His research focused on heterogeneous catalysis and reactor engineering. He also holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University. He is the author of numerous patents, papers, and conference presentations.
