Technology Landscape: Long-Duration Energy

As we endeavor to reach a carbon-neutral economy, electricity will become the core of the energy system. To achieve net-zero targets by 2050, a mix of different renewable energy (RE) generation and storage technologies will need to be implemented. Moreover, to ensure security of the electricity supply, the resilience of the electricity networks needs to be strengthened with the implementation of long-duration, utility-scale storage technologies for discharge durations of four hours and beyond.
