By:
On April 4, 2022, the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) released its third installment of the Sixth Assessment Report, which focuses on “mitigation of climate change.” The IPCC has released reports every five to seven years since releasing its first report in 1990, but the Sixth Assessment is the most ambitious and lengthy scenario analysis of climate pathways the IPCC has ever released. The result: We all must reduce energy emissions by between 35% and 52% before 2030. The overarching message of the report is clear: Limiting warming to 1.5 ºC is still within reach but requires immediate and drastic action. In this insight, our team breaks down the key points of the report that outline the IPCC’s latest analysis of mitigation pathways and implications.
