Charles Willard is a consultant at Lux Research, based at Lux’s Boston headquarters. In this role, he leverages his scientific background in material design, recycling, and synthetic biology to advise innovation leaders worldwide in chemicals, oil and gas, manufacturing, and other industries to make strategic decisions in partnership selection, technology roadmaps, and market-entry strategies. Charles is named in three patents and four academic publications and has been quoted in the media several times for his innovation insights.
Prior to joining Lux, Charles worked in the environmental consulting department of Arcadis US, where he supported project teams to accomplish remedial tasks at various job sites. He holds a B.Sc. in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he participated in multiple academic collaborations focused on improving synthetic biology methodologies and developing thermochemical recycling technologies.

Charles spends most nights playing goalie on soccer fields in the Boston area and is an avid hiker and fisherman in his time off.
