About the Event
The energy transition is no longer a concept of the future; itโs well underway. According to International Energy Agency data, in 2023, electric vehiclesโฏmade up roughly 18% of all vehicles sold; 440 GW of renewable capacity was added to the grid; and nearly 20 direct air captureโฏfacilities were removing nearly 10โฏktonneโฏof CO2โฏannually. At the same time, companies continued to face pressure fromโฏinvestors to not only decarbonize but to also deliver healthy profits. Balancing these priorities will be a key theme throughout 2024โฏand beyond.โฏโย
Startups have thus far remained the poster child of the energy transition, developing the technologies that would one dayโฏmove the world away from fossil fuels. However, the energy transition canโt rely on startups alone and must involve theโฏincumbent energy industry. A perfect storm of regulations, subsidies, and falling costs for novel energy technologies created an environment ripe for energy companies to pilot the next generation of climate technologies.โฏIn this forum, we will:โย
- Discuss expected macro-level trends in tech innovation for 2024.โย
- Identify the most promising energy technologies poised to move from prototype to pilot today, taking an especially close lookโฏat the role of energy storage and alternative fuels.โย
- Highlight strategies that companies should deploy to meet their decarbonization targets through panel discussionsโฏwith innovators building climate tech projects.โฏย
